Why UK Tap Water Damages Your Skin & Hair

99% of UK tap water contains chlorine.

While it keeps your water safe to drink, this chemical disinfectant strips moisture from your skin and hair every time you take a shower.

This, on top of pollution, rusty pipes and pesticides in the UK's tap water, means on average, tap water contains over 50 chemicals and heavy metals linked to:

Dryness

Chlorine and heavy metals strip away sebum, the natural oil that hydrates and protects your skin. This leads to dryness, flakiness, and a loss of moisture, leaving your skin feeling tight and uncomfortable after every shower and causing damage over time.

Irritation

Contaminants in our tap water irritate our skin and exacerbate existing conditions that we usually blame genetics for. These chemicals and heavy metals strip the skin of its protective natural oils, leaving you vulnerable to redness, itching, and inflammation.

Weak Hair

Chlorine and heavy metals break down the natural keratin in your hair, leaving it rough, brittle, and prone to breakage. Over time, these contaminants also strip away moisture, making it harder for your hair to stay healthy and manageable.

Premature Ageing

Chlorine and heavy metals cause oxidative stress, damaging your skin’s natural barrier and accelerating the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This constant exposure can leave your skin looking dull, tired, and prematurely aged.

the triple filtered solution

We know that we should filter our drinking water, so why not our shower water?

Your skin is your body’s largest organ, and it absorbs more than you think.

Every day, we shower in water filled with chlorine, heavy metals, and irritants that can trigger or worsen skin conditions.

We spend a fortune on skincare, yet ignore the water we wash with.

Curo filters out up to 99% of chlorine and heavy metals, with visible results over time so your skin and hair stay healthy, hydrated, and irritation-free.

It’s the easiest upgrade to your routine, with the biggest results.

Our Story

At Curo (Latin for 'to take care of'), our mission is simple; to allow you to look & feel your best, through the power of clean water. That's why Harry, the founder of Curo Skin, has worked hard to solve an issue he not only saw others go through, but experienced himself.
